the challenges of food – During this webinar initiated by Pour La Solidarité, Asbl Perspectiv’ (Belgium) and Economie, Solidarité, Partage (France) presented their original activities and a cross-section of the issues they encounter on both sides of the border.

Those working in the field have noted a decline in the quantity and quality of food donations from supermarkets, both in France and Belgium. Downstream, these same players are seeing an increase and diversification in the profiles of their beneficiaries, who now include students and precarious workers.

The proliferation of initiatives to combat food waste (“anti-gaspi” shelves and reduced in-store restocking, applications such as “Too good to go”, etc.), which are both economically and ecologically commendable, are perversely leading to a reduction in the food available to food aid organizations.
