Nutrition, physical activity and sedentariness in the Belgian population
TheNational Food Consumption Surveystudies the eating habits of the Belgian population, in order to develop and guide food policies and recommendations. It also measures physical activity and sedentariness in the population.
It is essential to carry out this type of survey on a regular basis, as habits change over time. The first survey, carried out in 2004, focused on the eating habits of people aged 15 to 64. In 2014-2015, data were collected from 3,200 people aged 3 to 64. The latest survey, conducted in 2022-2023, involved nearly 3,000 participants aged 3 and over, as well as additional samples of around 1,000 people in Brussels and 160 people in the German-speaking community.
